No, we hadn't been to a Klan rally - we were protecting our new baby sister, Clara, from Yankees in 1960! I'm still trying to figure out the pants I have on in this picture.
Welcome to the Robert and Katherine Andrews family web site.  This site is an on-going work designed to put our folks' story out into the world, and perhaps hear from others with similar stories.  Robert (deceased April 18, 2005 - click here to see one of the clever notes Dad used to write me , and click here to read one of his favorite Robert Service pieces) and Katherine represent American ideals and morals at their finest, and I hope you enjoy the pictures and stories here.  Your thoughts and words are very welcome via e-mail!

My Dad - The Honorable Bob Andrews. The first picture was taken right before his first B-17 mission...the second was taken just after his 35th and final mission - see any differences?
My Mom - Katherine Andrews. The first picture is her as a teen...the second picture is the engagement photo used for their wedding announcement. Mom's the bomb!
It's 1949, the war is over and Bob & Katherine are getting married!
My brother Andy and me - Jones...the original 'cabbage box kids'. Note my brother's rifle in the first picture, and see him spiriting a pistol in the second photo. The kid in the second picture was spared gunplay.
I don't know what's worse - the bowtie, or the fact that early on my folks believed my future was in the Navy.
My most important early lessons from Dad: good music and the meaning of a good tee time.
Upon hearing The Beach Boys I knew I'd be in radio, so like most radio people I started smoking immediately. Thank the lord I finally quit in 1990!
Here we are - Robert E. 'Andy' Andrews Jr., Clara Katherine Andrews, Jones 'Jay' Perryman Andrews and Gus, who loved pork BBQ.
Wishing I could put my feet back in the birthday cake...second picture - wondering when this 'new little sister' attention will stop. It never has!
